Augaat 24th. The addition to the jetty at the Mouth is boing proceeded with. The addition is to bo taken out 30 feet beyond low-water mark. This will give a depth of about 10 feet at; lowwater, or 14 at ordinary high waterquite sufficient for any craft evor likely Jo use the jetty. We, have to thank Mr Murray, member for Bruoe, for the vote of £180 whioh is now being expended on tne 36 One day last week the steamer Jane loaded a quantity of grain for the Messrs Wilson, off tbe Akatord Creek. There is a fine strip of agricultural land along the seaboard between tiie Akatore Creek and Tokomairiro Elver, whioh, "proviouß to the advent of Messrs Wijis^n and Quartley in our midst, was not considered payable to work owing to the difficulty ,of getting to. market, but the Jatker gonlle'men have solved the problem. There ara many sheltered nooks along tbis coast line from which a email Htoamer could easily be loaded by boats in fine weather. This is a more feasible scheme than a railway aloDg the ooaat, and can more easily be carried into practice.
