Catlin's River Railway.

A correspondent signing himself "Puerua" writes*, as follows in Monday's Daily Times :-^With reference to - the report of the Commissioners, 'I concur with huureds of others, that it is simply a sham and a delusion. , The Catlins railway, goes right through the centre of the South Molyneux district, and has been under consideration and' promise for the last five years. , The first section is formed, and cannot be of the slightest use until the Second' section is made, Parliament, ,at its last session, voted the money for this portion and ordered it to be proceeded with. Being only 4} miles long it would not 1 cost much. This would bring the line to the main road at Glenomaru bridge ; it would then be of great benefit to the whole district, and at once become remunerative. This district is shut out from all communication. Ever since Port 1 Molyneux got shut up there has been no water-carriage, aud a large portion of the settlers are, put to great inconvenience, it being over 20 miles to the nearest railway station. If we had got anything like justice, this line would have been finished by this . time. We have to pay our full share Of taxation, and as yet we have received little or no benefit from the Public Works, so that we arc' fairly entitled to have this small portion of the line finished at once, and we are determined to have it If there i 3 anything like fair play to be had ; and if not, the sooner we leave , the country the better.
