Directly they got into the straight Trevallyn challengod the leader, aud Hales had to sit; down and ride Rothschild. After a little time had, been cut to waste at the post, Mr M'Donald dropped his flag to a splendid start, all the horses jumping away together, and nothing showed to advantage until 100 yards had been run, when Electricif/, in the interests of First Water, took up the running and led the field into the straight, Rivalry and Pawnbroker on the whip hand being his nearest attendants, with First Water, Glenormiston, and Filibuster in the order named next, the whole field being closely packed. Past the stand Electricity was first clear of Pawnbroker and First Water, Rivalry, Filibuster, and Belladrum being next. Opposite Elder's stables the black was still in front, with Pawnbroker next, Sivalry, Filibuster, and First Water being together ; Mountaineer and Glenormiston running side by side just in front of Viceroy. Tfce field closed up opposite the stand, and Electricity was only a neck in front of Pawnbroker, First Water, Rivalry, and Glenormiston, who were in a bunch, and before the south-eastern corner had been reached Electricity had given place to Pawn, broker, the others being well together. At tha half-mile First Water's colours were most conspicuous (Electricity and Pawnbroker being at this stage of the race well beaten), with Glenormiston. Filibuster, and Rivalry, who went up very fast at this point, as his nearest attendants. Coming into the straight, Rivalry, on the inside, looked all over a winner, but directly First Water tackled her, Kilduff had to biing out his whip, and the little chestnut leaving at every stride as they raced home, won rather easily at the finish by two lengths. Rivalry beat Glenormiston by a neck for second place ; Filibuster was fourth, half a length away. Belladrum, Viceroy, Mountaineer, Eleotricity, and Pawnbroker finished iv the order named. Glenormiston and Don Carlos being next, and Viceroy following on the inside, with Mountaineer and Banter. Electricity led around Elder's corner to the back of the course, the Jew dropping back a little. D. O'D. was second, and Don Carlos third, with the Jew and Glenormiaton close up. Alsng the back stretch Electricity was still leading, D. O'D. being second, Don Carlos third, and Glenormiston, Mountaineer, and the Jew in a bunch, Viceroy behind. At the south-east turn Electricity was still leading, and Glenormiston passed into second place, with Banter, who had been running well behind the first division, third. Approaching the turn for the straight Glenormiston challenged the leader, who fell back, and Glenormiston led into the straight, followed by Don Carlos, Banter, and Viceroy in order, the Jew being last but one. Viceroy came rapidly forward, and a grand race took place down the straight, Glenormiston winning by about a length from Banter, who had Viceroy on hie quarters, and Don Carlos close up on the inside.
