Mr J. Tait Bailed for England in the Hydaspes last week, on a trip for the benefit of bis health. The Marquis is again to be offered at auction, Mr T. Chirnside being about to go to England. Mr Isaac Coleman, better known as " Ike Coleman," a prominent member of the Australian, betting ring, died on the 12th inst., after ailing for some time. X.C.8., by The Barb— Brown Duchess, died shortly after being landed in India. Sir T. Elder and Mr W. Pile scratched all their horses a fortnight prior to the Adelaide R.C. Birthday Meeting, declining to race on that course. There is very bad feeling between the two local clubs, each of which has, however, strong supporters amongst owners of horses. Darriwell was bought by Sir T. Elder for 500 guineas. The S.A.J.C. purpose giving L2OOO to the Adelaide Cup next year. Nominations for the Melbourne Cup, of 500 soys ; Champion lUce, of 1000 soys ; Metropolitan Stakes, of 350 soys ; and Hawkesbury Handicap, of 300 soys, close on June Ist, so that New Zealand owners who intend nominating have no time to lose. The Barb gained a silver cup at an agricultural show at. Hawkesbury laßt month. Mr Phil Gleniater, a well-known Victorian metallician and owner of horses, haß placed the latter in Mr Yuille's hand for sale.
