MILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The regular mietiog of the Borough Council of Milton was held in the Council Cb&mhers, Milton, on the evening of the 26th. Present; Mr R. R. Jones (Mayor), Cra Stanbrook, Cunninghame, Lane, Bastings aud Btewart. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed, and a report as to the woi k done since last meeting was approved. The following resolutions were carried :— Moved by Cr Stahbbook, and seconded by Or Stewart- "That Arthur street be formed and gravelled from main road to Manor street ; and that Jura street, from A j>x street to Elderlee street, be formed, and that, the b .rveyor prepare plans and specifications forthwith " — Moved by Cr Lans, and seconded by Cr bastings— " That pUntt be prepared and tenders called for gravelling footpaths in Uryden ttreet." Cr Cunninghams drew the attention of the Council to the fact that Mr Knight was pi. c>n< a fence across Johnston aud Abercrombie streets. The Vlator said that up to the present time the street had n t been dedicated by the owner, that the streets are not at present required, arid that the l>uid ■<a in the twine position as M'Gill'a iand mar the ruilw»y station, although there are ro»as shown on the plans deposited. Cr Stewart was of opinion th-» roads should be opened up, «id it w*s the duty of the Council to see that they were. The Council should bare possession of tbe streets, and the power to open them at any time.
