WETHERSTONES CEMENT COMPANY.
The clearing up of the Wetherstones Cement Company's Battery, resulted in a cake of retorted gold of close upon 70ozj — about 20ozs of which were found in the stamp-boxes. When it is considered that the battery has not been at work more than five weeks, and a large portion of the stuff put through consisted of old worked ground and mullock, the yield must be taken as very satisfactory. The facb that the ground has been taken on a face, and everything has been passed through the stamp-boxes, and yet a margin has been left after paying all expenses up to date, ought to be sufficient encouragement for the most sanguine. Should the Company adopt the same course that was resorted to by the Blue Spur claimowners when they first commenced to use batteries —viz , to work the bottom and known rich seams -they will no doubt be recompensed with equally magnificent yields. When the Wetherstones Company have sufficient ground opened to work their claim in this manner, they will most likely do bo for a time at least. --Tuapeka Times.
