OUR VOLUNTEERS.

No. 1 Company, City Guards. The company completed its class-firing on the morning of the 10th, and the following are the

City Guards v. North Dunbdin. The rifle nutch between the No. 1 City Guards and the North Dunedin Rifles was held at the Anderson's Bay Range on Saturcay morning last. The weather was unfavourable for good shouting, and the target could hirdly bo seea &t the last ran«e for the fog and rain. Thn conditions were:— Twelve men a-sido; ranges, 400, 600, and 600 yards ; and fivo Bhots at each range. Ihe following are the scores, which amount to a total of 492 points I each side :—

Tho monthly competition by members of the North Dunedin Rifles for the Comrany's Cup took place on Monday morning. The weather was calm, but there was a bad light. Corpo'al Waugh was first with a score of 50 Volunteer G Milhr unfortunately missed his l»st shot, when he only wanted two points to win. The following were the eight highest scororß :—
