The market is well supplied with most excellent meat of all kinds, with the exception, perhaps, of fresh pork, which, at current rates, has become a little scarce. Roasting beef is 6d to 7d per lb ; steaks, 6d to 8d per lb ; boiling, 3d to sd ; mutton, 2£d to sd ; pork, 7d ; veal, 5d to Gd. To hotels and boarding houses the charge all round is sd. The finest 41b loaf is 6d to s^d cash, or 6d delivered. The 501b bag of flour is 6s 6d ; American dried apples, 6d per lb ; Tasmanian jam, 8d ; American salmon, lid per lib tin ; Baltimore Cove oysters, 6d. In dairy produce fresh butter is rather scarce, and is quoted at Is 4d per lb ; salt, Is. Eggs have been very scarce since the cold weather set in, and now bring 3s 6d per dozen. Hams are becoming rather scarce, the price being lid to Is per lb ; bacon sells at 9d to lOd j cheese, lOd ; milk, 4d to od per quart j honey, Is per lb. There is a good supply of poultry of all kinds. Fowls bring 5s to 7s per pair ; geese, 16s to 18s per pair ; ducks, 7s to 9s per pair ; turkeys, 8s to 15s each. An extra fine turkey occasionally brings 20s. Vegetables are plentiful and cheap. Cabbages, 2d ea?b, or Is (id per dozen ; carrots and turnips, Is 6d per dozen ; lettuces, Is per dozen; potatoes, 181bs for Is; dried onions, 81bs for Is.

Apples are in good supply. The best eating are 6d to 8d per lb j baking 4d ; pears 6d to Bd, scarce; Sydney oranges, 6 to 12 for Is; grapes, which are going out of season, Is ; pine apples, Is each. The market has been very fairly supplied with fish, of late, although, barracoutas appear to have gone out earlier than usual. The season for groper, too, is drawiug to a close. The latter sell at 4s each, and upwards. Trevallias are becoming plentiful, and sell at 2s to 3s per dozen. Flounders are in fair supply, at 2s to 6s per dozen. Eock cod are now coming in from outside the Heads, and are worth Is each. Stewart Island oysters retail at Is per dozen in the shell.
