There have been some indications of an improvement in trade since our last. There is little or no change in wines, spirits, and ales. Brandy is greatly depressed. In tea, stocks of last season are gottii.fr much reduced. In sugar, following the decline which has taken place in Melbourne, there has been a. decline in whites of 20s per ton, yellows being well clewed out. Provisions are as last reported. Mutter is simply unquotable, as, ace >rd na: to quiiity, it can be bought at from 81 to " lOd, aid. Uas. Oheeso remains in heavy overstock, bait continues to be very scarce, and likely to go hi.her. Present quotations aro :— For fine, £6 10i ; coarse, £5 10s. Cement is again scarce. Flour is declining, the quotation t.'iis week being £17 10a per tou. Wheat has been very little dealt in, there having been none offering. Quotations for prime are from 7s 3d to 7s 9d. Oata are coming to hand equally slowly, quotations for feed being from 3i 3d to 3a 4d ; for milling, 33 4d to 3s 6d. Ia barley there ia nothing doing. Bran is quoted 10s easier — present pr.es £4 53 ; pollard as before, £7.
