BALD MOUNTAIN MINE.

This mine is situated at. Forest City, I Sierra county. It ia perhaps the richest [' gravel mine in the State. The mine is t worked by drifting, and the drift is taken, j.from the breast to the place of washing in cars through the tunnel. These cars run on a track of 20 inches gauge, laid with T rail, and are drawn by a steam locomotive. The tunnel is between 3000 and ,4000 feet long, and the grade in it is" ■ from 160 feet to 216 feet to the mile; , The average yield of the mine per year is' about 0400,000, of which about $18,000 are paid over in dividends.
