THE KNOX CHURCH YOUNG MEN'S SOCIETY.
It appears from the annual report of this body, which -was read at the soiree held the other evening, that five new members have joined the society during the year Ihe average attendance has been 14, beinc 2 less than the previous year. The alternate meetings for readings and recitations have been discontinued, owing in a great measure to the small attendance of members. The Committee, in reviewing the past year, imds reason for congratulation— Ist, in ita being the 11th year of the Society's existence; in the -warm interest manifested in the Society by many of the members, and the regular attendance at the meetings of others ; 3rd, that many of the meetings have been characterised by life and vigour, and the essays quite up to average excellence ; and 4t,h the successful commencement of the Magazine. 1 his gratification, however, must be qualified by the following, reasons for regret :— lat, that so few new members have joined the Society 2nd, that the active work is confined to comparatively a few ; 3rd, the sm»U attendance at the meetings ; and 4tb, the want of interest shown m the Society and its objects by the young men of so large and important a coneregation as Knox Church.
