THE ST. KILDA COUNCIL.

* The.regular meeting of the St Kilda Council was held on the 7th. Present— His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. P. Jones) in the chair ; - Messrs Arnold, Halligan, Mitchell, and-Hough-ton. The resignation of Mr Dodds as Clerk r was ordered to stand over till the next meeting > of the Council.— Messrs Henderson and M'Lean wrote requesting that some improvements should be effected in Park Ward. Eeferred to . the Works Committee.— The Mayor explained thai., owing to the Council having discourteously treated his bill for expenses incurred re the case concerning the validity of his election as Mayor of St. Kilda, he now submitted an. account (L 24) for rent of his room and lighting. He was ready to submit the account to the ratepayers. Of course it was well known that some of the Councillors had " a finger in the pie." After some personal discussion, the account was ordered to lie over till next meeting. — Mr Roughton gave notice or his intention to move—" That this Council pay halt the cost of the drainage works now being carried out by Mr D. Proudfoot in Musselburgh Ward, St. Kilda."— Tbe Council rose at 11.30 p.m., and adjourned till Tuesday next.
