CLYDE.

On the 14th the Governor arrived at Alexandra at about a quarter to eight o'clock, after crossing the punt. The trap pulled up in front of the Public Library. His Honour the Superintendent alighted, and presented the Mayor and Council to His Excellency. The Mayor invited him to go into the Library and take a glass of wine which had been provided, but he declined on the ground that he did nob much indulge in those thiugs, and he had had a long day's journey, and it was late. He had to go on to Clyde, where he was to stop the night. At about nine o'clock he arrived at Clyde. On the trap arriving at the Dunstan Hotel, the party alighted, and His Honour the Superintendent introduced the Mayor and Town Council. After a short conversation His Excellency went to the Town Hall, where a short address was read and presented to him. His Excellency briefly replied, thanking the people for the cordial reception they had given him, and hoped that they would obtain lots of gold, and that as the gold product fell off some other industries would be ready to take the place of gold mining. He left for Queenstown at about 9 a.m. on the 15tli.

All the holiday-makers have now returned to their work, fully bent on making up for lost time. Our Court House is mowr now in a fair way towards erection, the Christmas holidays having retarded its progress somewhat.

The Molyneux still continues high, and as to the weather, we have had dust storms, summer, winter, and gales of wind, alternately, almost every other day.
