THE GENERAL ELECTIONS.
The elections for the General Assembly are, with one exception, completed, and the result will be found below. It iB exceedingly'difficult to draw a line between the newly-elected members, as supporters of the Ministry or of the Opposition, Bince many will support the Ministry in their general policy but not with regard to their Public Works and Immigration scheme. , As, however, this scheme is really the most important question before the country, we have divided the members by rendering as Ministerialists those who upheld the soheme in its entirety, or with slight modifications ; and as members of the Opposition, those who oppose it altogether, or insist on its being radically altered. In the following list, M sands for Ministerialist, O for member of the Opposition, D for doubtful, and an asterisk indicates that the member named held a seat in the last House of Representatives :—: — Name of District.
