CRICKET.

The return match between the Tokomairiro Cricket Club and the Albion Club came off on Saturday, on the gruuf'd of the D,O.C. The weather was Bploudid for cricket, a nice cool breeze lessoning the heat of. the suu. The whole cf the Albion men not having turned up at the appointed hour (12 o'clock), they were put in first by the Tokomairiro men ; Shepherd and Pay ton J., appearing first ' at the wickets, to the bowling of Gregory j and Marryatt. The only double figure made for the Albion waa that of Shepherd (who played the bowling just as he pleased), and obtained 50, not out. 1 here were several instances of very bad judgment in running, and the consequence waa three men were run out ; the total of the first innings being 89. The Albions, after a short interval, took the field, and succeeded in disposing of the Tokomairiro men for 39 ; M'lntyre carrying out his bat for 18 inns. Shepherd bowled very fairly, no lesa than eight wickets being obtained by him. After the fall of the last wicket, the Tokomairiro eleven were invited to a lunch which had been provided for them In the pavilion, and after justice had been done to the good things provided by Mr Watson, of the Royal Hotel, and several toasts had been drunk, the Tokomairiro men again took the field, but the bowling being very indifferent, and the fielding only middling, 65 were scored when the last man was out. After very little delay, the Albions again appeared in the field, the Tokomairiros having to get 116 runs to win ; but the fielding and bowling was too much for them, and only 38 runs were scored. In this innings Allen obtained eight wickets, two of them being stumped by Mnir in succession. The fielding of the Tokomairiro eleven was not as good as it might have been, and the habit of "spooning" the balls which they have got into, is a very bad one. The ground also made a great difference j although bad as it is at present, it is greatly superior to that upon which they generally play. The fielding of the Albion men was very good indeed, very few mistakes being made. We append the soores :—: — A CO.— FIEST INNINGS.
