WASTE LANDS BOARD.

The usual weekly meeting of the Waste Lands Board tcok place on the 7th instant. The Chief Commissioner was in the chair, and Messrs Reid and Duncan were present. Mr Connell, of Oonnell and Moodie, applied on the part of Messrs Low and Macgregor, lor the decision of the Board as to an application for a pastoral lease in the interior, and also, if it were not granted, for the refund of the deposit. The Board decided to refuse the application for a lease, to refund the deposit, and to put up the lease to auction at a month's notice in the Government Gazette.

Another application of a similar nature by the same gentleman, on behalf of Messrs Clarke and Holt, was dealt with in like manner.

Mr W. M'Meck&n applied that section 60, Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri, should be put up as land "f special value. Granted, the upset price to be 21s.

Mr J. Doughty applied for Mr Isdale, for the purchase of the Old Quarry reserve, block 111, Oamaru district, in order to carry out an arrangement by which the Government had asjreed to give him a portion of that land in exchange for land of his taken up by them for a road line. The application was agreed to. Mr J. Doughty made an application on the part of Mr Eliaa Jones, with reference to the exchange of a piece of land reserve, section 86, block 1. , Waikouaiti, and part of section 24, for a piece of his land taken up for road purposes. It was decided to sell the land, under clause 49 of the Waßto Lands Act.

Mr J. Doughty applied for a lease of 10 acreß near the Kapiti township, for the purposes of a limestone quarry, under clause 52, Waste Lands Act. The application was granted for 14 or 21 years at a rental of LlO per annum, the land to be surveyed by the applicant subject to th» approval of the Board, and the usual conditions to be observed.

Warden Robinson's recommendation that certain lands in the township of Naseby should be sold, watt considered, and the land ordered to be sold by Mr Barron under the supervision of the Warden.

Willism Auld applied to lease land for coal mining purposes at Havelock. The application was refused, as it was likely to interfere with street lines, wa'er races, and other vested interest*. Tho applicant was recommended to purchase the sections ho wanted.

Mr Spence's report on MrO. Low|s complaint that he had not been paid the amount of valuation, LB, on his improvements on sections 24 and 25, block V, Arrowtown, was referred to the auctioneer. A letter from Mr John Shepherd, iv whioh he objected to a valuation being placed on a house erected on his land, section 18, Arrowtown, by Mr S. Gouleton, was read, and the decision of the Warden, that Goulston should remove his buildings, confirmed. The buildings to b removed six days after date. An application by Messrs Farquhar and Haslam for tho approval of the Board of thoir survoy of tho land, was granted. Maps of applications for unsurvcyed land were passed.
