DISCOVERY OF GOLD.
While closing my letter, two diggers have just come into our camp on their way to the ferry. They state that there are parties prospecting on the Matukituki River (the Matatapo of M'lterrow), aud getting gold. One of these, a party of four, who were recommended by Dr Hector to prospect about four miles up this river, obtained the first day one and a half ounces of good coarse gold. 13.S1 3 .S. — The camp of these men on the Matukituki is only thirteen miles from our encampment.
