THE CENTAKI CEP. Members of tlie Petone Central Bowling Club, with a number of lady friends, ■visited. Utaki yesterday to play for the Centaki Cup, a trophy which has been competed for on several occasions. Unfortunately, rain fell early in the afternoon, and games had to be abandoned, but us Otaki had won the cup on the last occasion the club still retained it. Another trophy, for the runners-up, was, however, presented to the visitors. During the day, afternoon tea was provided by the home club, and the ladies in charge are deserving of thanks for their attention.

Mr. \V. Morton, president of the Otaki Club, on behalf of fellow members, thanked Mr. Bell, the president of the Petone Central Club, for making the trip, adding that he was also pleased to see a number of ladies accompany the club, lie regretted that the weather had been so unfavourable, but he hoped Otaki would be able to send two rinks to Petone at an early date to play for the cup. Mr. Morton stated that his club was desirous of visiting Petoue in numbers, but ou account of lack of benzine, and the dilheulty with transport, the trip could not be arranged. Mr. Morton hoped Mr. 8011, as president of the club, would have au enjoyable term of office. (Cheers were then given for the visitors). Mr. Bell thanked the Otaki Club for its kind invitation to visit Otaki, and like Mr. Morton, regretted that rain Lad interfered with the day’s play. The Otaki Club had generously oll'ered the cup to his club, but Mr. Bell assured the Otaki players that they would sooner play for it. Petone Central Club, lie stated, always looked forward with pleasure to meeting members of the Otaki team' (Cheers). Mr. Morton, in mentioning a second trophy, asked Mr. White Scott to do honours in this respect, Mr. Scott, after thanking Mr. Emmett for handing the trophy to Otaki, stated he was now pleased to now hand the cup back to Mr. Emmett, the club’s secretary. After dealing briefly with incidents relating to the trophy, it was handed to Mr. Emmett amidst applause. Mr. Emmett, in extending thanks, stated that members of bis club would have pleasure in retaining the trophy. The patriotic tournament, to be- held at Otaki early next mouth, is arousing interest, and already several c-lubs have stated their intention of being present

Arrangements are being made with the Levin Club for games on the 13th of next month.

A return match with Petoue Central Club will be arranged for an early date when at least two rinks will make the trip. ,
