RUGBY KOWS-EC. PLAYER SENT TO HOSPITAL. Clinton Stringfellow, the well-known Wairarapa representative footballer, was taken to the Greytown hospital on Saturday evening suffering from concussion, as the outcome of a bump sustained while playing for Greytown against Carterton* at Carterton, on Saturday afternoon. Early in the game Stringfellow was injured and play was hold up for a while. Ho continued in his place on the field, though later n? was forced to rest on the side-line for several minutes. He pluekily saw the game out and as his memory seemed to be a blank he was hurried away to the hospital for treatment. S

After receiving the bump, Stringfellow went all to pieces in his play, and it is almost safe to say that, but for this accident, Carterton would never have won the match. The time at which they scored was when Stringfellow was wandering aimlessly about the field and anywhere but in his position as centre-thrcequartcr. Only on one occasion did he show up after the bump, when his mind became temporarily normal.

The game throughout was noted for its roughness and on more than one occasion an All Black forward playing for Carterton was booed for unnecessary rough handling of opponents when on the ground. It has been said that the Carterton forwards play a hard game. They not only do this, but they mix it with a Jot of unnecessary rough play and are welcome to all the wins they secure bv these methods. Upon inquiry this morning it was ascertained that Stringfellow was progressing satisfactorily and hoped to leave the hospital in the course of a day or two. —Greytown Standard. Porter Injured.
