DAIRY COMPANIES.
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. ■The monthly meeting of the executive .of the Manawatu and West Coast hairy Companies l Association 'was hold at Palmerston North on Thursday, Mr. S. A. Broadfcelt (Levin) presiding. Others present were; Messrs C. G. C. Dernier* (Cheltenham); J. W. Teale (Kairanga), T. Hanford (Whabarosge) and P. Hansen (Awahuri). Apologies for absence were received front Messrs it. G. Dalziell and H. Paeey. Grouping of Factories. Returns showing the quantity of butter and cheese exported during the year .ended March 31st last by the dairy coigpanies in wards five and were received from ttiQ Minister of Agriculture. „ _ .. The secretary (Mr. E. H. Spencer) reported that copies had been, forwarded to all members of the executive. The information had been sought for the purpose of making a protest regarding the grouping, of the factories in the district, some being put in one ward and the rest in another, and, after a brief discussion, it was decided -to hold the matter over till the next .meeting.
Proposed Dairy Award. CO py 0 f a resolution was received fro* the Apiti Dairy Company expressing strong disapproval of flic award a= proposed by the Wellington Creameries Cheese and Butter Factory Employees. Industrial tJnion of Workers, and suggesting that, in view of its £“Ctcrr "rfpliSng," the Government should bo asked to abolish the Arbitration Court and to have the preference clause to unionists deleted. •phe chairman commented that, in tus opinion, the principle of the Arbri-tra-tion Court was quite sound, but tna.. the clause regarding preference to unionists should bo abolished.
