INSOLENCE.
The raw recruit writing home to his mother, said :
They took away my name, gave me a number, 254 ; took away/nay clothes and gave me khaki ; aUov my shoes, and gave me boots. '
Next day I had to atteud divine service, and at the finish the chaplain stood up and said : "254, art thou ! weary, art thou languid 1" and 1 replied that I was,' very. They called it insolence, and gave me six days' C.B. ■ ■ "
