Hockey Notes.

Weather permitting, a practice match will be held to-morrow, commencing at 3 p.m. sharp. Weather conditions were anything but favourable for the practice match last Wednesday, heavy rain falling most of the time, making the ground very sloppy and almost unplayable. Despite these drawbacks, 14 members were present. If the club had been fortunate enough to have had a fine day, I am certain the full complement of players would have been m attendance, and a more enjoyable game, would have been the result.

The club has secured a referee and coach at last m the person of Mr Lawrence, and under his tuition, the members should rapidly regain their old form.

Some young ladies who had signified their intention of becoming members at the beginning of the season havo so far failed to put m an appearance. The season is getting well, on, and these ladies,, if they are still of the same mind, are urgently requested, m their own as well as the club's interest, to roll up to practice to-morrow afternoon.

The Ladies Hockey Association (Invercargill) must be congratulated on the sucoess of their recent carnival, the two night's takings amounting to £150, and after paying all expenses, the Association Will benefit to the extent of £100.

Several suggestions from the New Zealand Hookey Association, suggesting amendments m the rules of the game, have been acjopted by the International Hockey Board at the annual meeting held m London recently.
