Otautau Town Board.

The monthly meeting last night was attended by all the members. It was decided to obtain the opinion of the Municipal Association's legal advisor as to the relative responsibilities of public bodies for charges incurred by one publio body m impounding stock iv another district.

A complaint was received from the County Engineer that fencing material was impeding traffic on the footpath on Yellow Bluff Road, and that drains had also been improperly out across the footpath.— lt was decided to notify the owners to remedy the defeots forthwith.

The Works Committee was appointed to discuss with the caretaker" of the hall the question of increased duties, {for which an increase m salary was asked. The same committee also to draw up specification of timber required by the Board and invite tendors for same.

Tho surfaceman "was appointed to light the three gas lamps, and 6d a night extra allowed for the work.

The clerk was directed to write to the Aparima Lodge, 1.0.0. F., and endeavour to have one of their monthly meeting nights altered to permit of the hall being let to another lodge. The County Council applied for payment of one-fourth of cost of repairing Yellow Bluff bridge, the total cost of which was £255 6s 2d. — It was resolved to reply that the Board could .not increase its previous ' offer of £20. -

A resolution was submitted by the Te Awamutu Chamber of Commerce calling upon the Government to take steps to avert the many accidents at level crossings, was endorsed by the Board.

The attention of the River Board to be drawn to the accumulation of debris at the Main street bridge. ■ Messrs Matheson,' Liddell and the Clerk were delegated to wait on the Board's banker with reference to disposal of Coronation Hall debentures.
