Ell will introduce, amends section 3 of the principal Act, under which banks are specially exempted from fur. mshing lists of their shareholders, details of the number of shares, held, and balance, sheets for public inspection. Other finau. cial companies have to give this informa. tion to the public, and m Great Britain banks are required to disclose their' share, lists and give other information ; but m -New Zealand at present there is absolutely no means of finding out who are the shareholders m a bank, and whether the shareholders are resident m the Dominion, BANK OF NEW ZEALAND. At Parliament House yesterday a further meeting of members was held m connection with the Bank of New Zealand There were present the Hons. T. Kelly (m the chair), Anstey, M'Cardle, Barr, Paul, M.L.C.s, Messrs Macpherson, Flatman, Buddo, Major, Seddon, Davey, Hogc, Poland, Witty, Arnold, Hornsby, Poole, W renson, Hanan Parata, Ell, E. G. Allen, Barclay Hon. T. Y. Duncan, and Sir W. Steward, M.P.s. The meeting lasted about an hour and a-quarter. Certain resolutions were passed regarding the State's interest m the Bank, and suggestions for future policy, which it was decided to bring before the Prime Minister, supported by those present as a deputation. The Prime Minister will receive the deputation shortly. r
