MARCHING CHAMPIONSHIP

STRATFORD EVENT OPUNAKE THIRD The Opunalre Marching Giris' team gave an excellent performance to gain a close third in the main squad marching event at the Stratford Marching Association's Championship at Victoria Park, Stratford on Saturday. The team also performed well in the street march, while Miss V. Hickey gained third equal (Leader). This younj? team lias had relatively little experience compared with most of the other nine teams and are to be congratulated on their effort. Results were:— Squad marching: Pike and Waters, 2GOi 1; Boon Bros, and Services, 258 equal 2; Opunake 3. Leaders: Miss 1). Boyce (Services), 91, 1; Miss M. Walker (Boon Bros), 87, 2; Miss V. Hickey (Opunake) and Miss J. Clarke (Pike and Waters), T 7, equal 3.
