MAYOR’S THANKS
(To the Editor) Sir,—Permit me to express my cordial thanks to the public of Opimake. and district for the gratifying support accorded the appeal for starving children. With the receipt of the Home Servicemen’s payment to the fund from proceeds of a concert the Borough lists are officially closed at <£339-17-0. This is a wonderful response by citizens and will do untold good overseas, where the need is so great. The’ money ha s been transmitted to Wellington free of charge by the Bank of N.Z. Our appreciation is due to all who assisted with marts, concerts, collections etc., and to donors of cash towards this worthy cause. Opunake can again be congratulated on being ready and willing' to give where heR is needed. I am, etc., R. H. HHGHSON, J,P. Mayor.
