RESIDENTS FAREWELLED
AT ARAWHATA ROAD ENJOYABLE EVENING Residents of Arawhata Road and friends from Opunake District, gathered at the Arawhata Road hall on Saturday evening to farewell Mr. and Mrs. L. NJcoll and family and Mr. and Mrs.J J. Hatcher. Mr. Niccoll, manager of the Oaonui Dairy Company's Arawhata Branch factory for the past 7 years has accepted, the position of manager of the Newall Road Factory at Okato (he leaves next Thursday) and Mr. Hatcher, first assistant at Arawhata has been promoted to manager of the Kina Road branch. There was a large attendance and a pleasant evening of. oldtime dancing was enjoyed. Mr. H. V. Field and Mr. Hatcher providing lively accordien rnusio for the dancing; which was very popular. Supper served by the ladies was also appreciated.
At a suitable interval. Mr,. M T. Daly on behalf of residents, presented Mr. and Mrs. Nicoll with a teaset and Mr. and Mrs. Hatcher with a mat, and thanked them for their keen interest in the social activities of thje district.
Mr. R. H. 'Baylis, chairman of Oaonui Dairy Co., also spoke on behalf of the Company and suppliers, referring to the valuable services rendered the company by Mr. Nicoll and as a token of appreciation presented him with a cheque on behalf of the company. Both speakers particularly referred to Mrs. Nicoll's active association with the social life of the district. Mr. Nicoll suitably replied. Yery appropriately a Monte Carlo was won by Mr. and Mrs. Nicoll.
