AROUND THE LINKS
OFFICIAL OPENING RECORD ATIENDANCE One of tlie most successful opening days for years took place on Sunday when the Opunake- links were officially declared open for the new season by the President, Mr. S. Hutchen. Over TO golfers and friends were present, including visitors from the Manaia club, and members were agreeably surprised at the good condition of the links at this early stage in the season.
A 9-hole Canadian Foursome was played, consistently good cards being returned in most cases, the winners being Miss Wehipeihaua and Hosie (Manaia) and Mrs. Niccoll and Wilson who both returned nett scores of 32. Other good cards were returned as follows: Airs. R. Otene and S. Hutchen 34; Airs. F. Malcolm and C, Trotter 34; Miss Dozer and D. Watt 34; Airs. W. Gunson and N.. Sorenson 35; Airs. Hepburn and L, Niccoll 36. The president of the Ladies’ Golf Club, Airs. R. J. Alorris, presented the trophies to the winners.
A dainty home-made afternoon tea, served by the ladies, was also greatly appreciated.
