EX-SERVICEMEN TENANTS FURTHER ALLOCATIONS During February a further 99 ex-servicemen were allocated State rental houses under the 50 per cent allocation system. This brough the number of tenancies so allocated by the end of that month to 8,044. At least half of all newly built or newly vacant State rental houses and flats are set aside for recommended ex-servicemen under the above system,„ Recommendations are made on the basis of urgency by the Rehabilitation Housing Committee in each centre..

District allocations to ex-ser-vicemen as at the end of February, with those for February itself shown in parentheses, are: Auckland-North Auckland 2,345 (12), Waikato-Bay of Plenty 627 (15), Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay 350 (4), Taranaki 232 (9), Wellington Province (including Palmerston North, Wanganui and Masterton) 2,863 (36), Nel-son-Marlborough-W estland 178 (0), Canterbury Province 821 (6), Otago Province 455 (14), Southland 173 (3); totals 8,044 (99).
