SCHOOL NOTES

SECONDARY DEPARTMENT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS The first assignments sent in by Form Y were posted out from school yesterday. Eight pupils have not yet sent in work. The staff have had a number of difficulties which it is hoped to avoid in the next assignments. _ When work is received it is sorted bv the form teacher into the various subjects so that the teachers receive the work from all pupils in a subject ht the same time. If the pupil’s name is written on the outside only there is a great deal of confusion as. the work has to be collected for. post- 1 in g again. It is most important that you should write your name on ever sheet of paper used.

Some of you have messages for your class teacher or requests for books written among your work. If you write to a teacher, use a separate sheet of paper and be sure to sign the letter. We are still short of text books but are attempting to complete supplies in the next week or so. On your English assignment you will Yind a space for you to send in your requirements. Cut off the piece from the bottom of the sheet and send it in. It would he a help if you would use the slip to let us know that you have all you require if you are in that fortunate position. There have been a number of excellent assignments received and it is obvious that some pup-' ils will be little behind when they return to school. Some of you, however, will need to’ reconsider what is a fair effort.

The work sent in by Form VI shows consistent effort. A play has been sent for reading-—Shake-speare’s Henry V. Some of you saw the film at Stratford last year. If you have no copy, you may get one from school. Exercises. will he set on the play later. When you receive the first as--signment back in the mail your second should be ready to post. Please help us with the marking by, posting promptly back. Our first count of the school roll gives us a figure just a little higher than last year, but there are many mere of the old school back than usual, and form three is smaller than it was in 1947.

Those of you who are held up for hooks should do the work in the subjects they-can get on with a little better to avoid getting behind the rest of the class.

We are expecting the Form IYB assignments to arrive back within the next few days.
