TENNIS CLUB
COMMITTEE MEETING £6O GRANT RECEIVED Mr. R. H. Hughson "presided at a meeting of the committee of the -Opunake Tennis Club which was held on Tuesday evening. Apologies were received from Mesdames Malcolm and Jackson and Messrs. Malcolm and Davey. A of £6O under the Physical and Recreation Act, 1937, towards the cost "of construction of the two new tennis courts, was received from the Internal Affairs department. The annual grant of .£ls from the Opunake Borough Council Avas also received and an anonymous donation of 10/- was acknowledged. The secretary Mr. C, Thomas reported that Mr. A. J. Scott had supplied an approximate estimate of the -cost of laving down the courts, together with advice in connection Avitb the initial levelling and metalling of the area. It was decided to undertake the work as soon as possible. Messrs. J. Roach, C. Thomas and G. Jackson were appointed a sub-committee to arrange for satisfactory fencing of the Club's courts.
Accounts totalling £lO-2-1 were passed for payment.
