TWO GAMES IN DAY BASKETBALL CONTESTS A formidable contract was undertaken by the Opunake Basketball Club's A team on Saturday, when two coastal clubs were played in the afternoon. Both contests were of exacting nature, and -the local girls secured one win and one loss. In the match at Warea, the visiting team asserted itself in all departments, and was particularly to. fore in passing movements. The defence kept the ball out of Warea's readh, and the centres sent the ball at rapid pace to the jrnnlthnwers who were in good trim. The first half ended with the scor 8-0 in Opunake's favour, mid. .'it the conclusion of n hard-fought second s])ell. Opnnake was successful by 15 goals tf> 14.
On the way home, the team played Uiihotu, but the game was not so fast in the first spell as the previous fixture. The halftime seor" was Rahotu 10, Opu:mkc 5. but Rahotu developed .' "c itci comhruttion in the second spell to run out victors bv 22 goals to. 10. The local team comprised: Goal-throwers, M. Humphries, X. Baylis, B. Olliver: centres, T). Parsons, M. Roach, 11.
