WEDDING

DERECOURT-HOLMES WELL-KNOWN COUPLE A wedding of great interest was solemnised at St. Barnabas' Church on June 14, the officiating minister being the llev. J. Harold Datson, who was formerly vicar of Opunake, and who came from his new charge at Aramoho to perform the ceremony. The contracting parties were Gwendoline Louisa, only daughter of Mr. R. S. Smith and the late Mrs. Smith, and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Holmes, senr., of Pihama, and William James, fourth son of Mrs. and the late Mr. Harry Derecqurt, of le Anga.

Escorted by Mr. Holmes, . the bride entered the church to the strains of the "Wedding" March," played by Mr. W. Markham, an old friend of the family. The bride was gowned in a charming frock of embossed magnolia satin, cut on classical lines, and fitting to the figure, with tight-fitting sleeves pointed over the hands and a fish-tail train. She wore a beautiful embroidered veil, lent by Mrs. Cliff Holmes, and carried a shower bouquet of freezias, nerines, roges and maiden-hair fern, with satin ribbon. Attending the bride were Miss Moyna Sutton, of Marton, as chief bridesmaid, and Misses Nova and Merna Holmes, as junior 'maids, all cousins of the bride. They were frocked alike in French lilac taffeta, with an, over-dress of stiffened net, with bands of ribbon, scalloped taffeta collar and a taffeta sash. On their heads they wore headbands of lilac.and roses. The chief bridesmaid earned a bouquet of pink nerines and lilac freezias, with lilac ribbons. Shepherdess crooks, with large spravs of nerines and freezias, and lilac ribbon, were carried by the junior attendants. AH wore silver shoes to tone. All the bouquets were the gift of Miss Moyna Sutton. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. Russell Dere(ourt, of Te Anga, as best man. At the reception, Mrs. Holmes wore black crekpe-de-chene, lace coatee, and velvet hat,, with a feather mount, and carried a gold bouquet of bomaria and crotilaria. The hostess was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Derecourt, who wore a brown striped costume, brown hat with veil, and carried an autumn-ton-ing bouquet of cbrvsanthemums, abutilons and autumn leaves. For going- awav, the brid<? chose a black self-striped costnme. velour hat and skunk stole. Her ivory necklace was the gift of the brides-room. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. Derecourt will be at Oeo.
