FREEZING WORKS VISITED
FARM COURSE STUDENTS INSPECTION AT PATE A All of the processes involved in the preparation of meat for shipment to our overseas markets were, viewed yesterday by paity of farm course studeu's from the Opunake District High Scheoi. Accompanied by the agricultural instructor, Mr. R. Syme, Air. N. L. Douglas, representative of W. and R. Fletcher (N.Z.) Ltd., and the headmaster, Air. U. W. Williams, the boys visited the works of the Patea Freezing Co., Ltd., and, by courtesy of the manager, Mr. A. Coyte. were shown over the factory.
From the yarding and killing of the stock, the party followed through every phase of the industry to the freezing chambers. The ch aiu system of dressing and preparing the carcass was particularly impressive and each process held a special interest. Tire work involved in the various byproducts of the industry also was inspected.
Fact) process was fully explained to the visitors, and thanks are due to the foremen of the various departments for their kindness and courtesy.
