DANCE AT PIHAMA
HOCKEY CLUB FUNCTION A good number were present on Friday last at the Pihama Hall when the hockey girls held their annual dance which was enjoyable and successful. As usual, the floor was in perfect order and much labour had been expended on the decorations, the hall bearing a very artistic appearance. Quite a large crowd of Opunake residents were present, the bus being well patronised, while others from South Taranaki turned out to join in a function which is always a most popular one. Hooker’s Merrymakers Orchestra provided a bright programme of modern music, the constant appeal for encores proving that its efforts were highly appreciated.
During the evening several com petitions were held, the winners being as follows: Monte Carlos (1) Miss P. Templeton and Mr C. Faulkner (2) Mrs A. Clarke and Mr A. Mcllanuigau, (3) Mrs LWhalen and Mr It. George, (4) Miss M. Schieweters and Mr Frost.
During an interval Mr J. S. Tosland, president of the club, thanked the people for their attendance and congratulated the girls on their season’s play.
A delicious supper was served by the ladies’ the tables being tastefully laid out, spring flowers predominating. The committee responsible for the smooth running of the function were Misses D. Wilcox, P. Templeton, L. Knowles, A. Templeton, E. Riley, L. G’engarry, B. McCullum, A. Conaglen, M. Allen, Y. Stevenson and W. Fischer.
