POPULAR NOMINATION
ALL BLACKS MANAGER HUN. J AMES McLEOD; M.L.C. Upuuake football enthusiasts will no doubt be pleased to note that tue Taranaki Hug by Union has nominated the Hon. James McLeod, M.L.C., for the position of manager of the All Blacks Rugby team lo tour Great 13niain this year. It is understood, how ever that in accepting 1 nomination Mr McLeod has made it clear that lie will not oppose Mr V. R. Meredith, Auckland should Mr Meredith be available for the position of manager. During the last quarter of a century there are few who have played a more prominent part in the Taranaki and Dominion administration of Rugby than Mr McLeod. He has been 'continuously a member of the Tarauaki Rugby Union for 27 or 28 years, and for over 20 years he has been its chairman and has ably guided the destinies of football in the province. Mr McLeod has had previous managerial experience, having been away on several occasions as manager of the Taranaki touring team, while in 1929 he went to Australia in charge of the All Blacks. He was a candidate for the; position of manager when the All Blacks last visited South Africa, a position which was givento Mr J. P. Hornig, Wellington. _ _
