A Street Mart.*— A streetj mart in aid of the newly formed basketball club will be held on Monday next. Donations of home cookery, vegetables, etc, will be gratefully received. Tunes, L'aughs, Cfrls, Fun.— Starts on high as fast-paced comedy . . accelerates to sprightly romance. . . then works up to a tremendous dramatic climax.— see "Arizona to Broadway" at the New Theatre. Surf Club Ball.— The surf club ball which is to be. held on Wednesday, August, Ist., promises to be a most suecessful function. Patrons are asked to keep thfg date free as apart from being sure of a most enjoyable time, one feels they are help ing a most worthy cause. Cobweb Social.— On Monday a ebbweb social in aid of the Opuiiake Anglican guild fund was held in the parish hall. Dancing games and competitions were indulged in. Mrs C. Humphries played for the dancing and the community singing. Messrs C. Maindonald and Tom Julian wer-e masters of ceremony. Several items were given. Win for Third Grade.—

Tlie Opunake third grade football team played and defeated the Itahotu thirds at the Dpmajn on Wednesday afternoon, Opunake's 12 points (four tries) were made by Northcott, Sexton (2), Crawford, tries. Rahota's three points came from a try by Pepperell. Mr A. Elgar charge, of the game.

Cukh Social.— On Friday the Girl Guides held a social after -the weekly nnrade. Items were "given by Doroen Parsons and Noelin'e »ay]i&, vocal duet; Jean !rlugh-s-m. recitation; Ernest Sco-.tt, ecitation; Nairne E,oss, gongs; George Byars, Jim Dudley and Victor Elgar gave fan exhibition of a haka and Nairne Boss danced the Highland fling.
