WEDDINGS

WILLIAMSON—YOUNG The wedding was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Opunake on Wednesday last of Mary Noel Jean, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Young, Oaonui, to Mr Peter Henry Williamson, son of Mr and Mrs J. Williamson, of Eahotu. Eev. A. R. Penn performed the ceremony, and Mrs C. Malcolm was the organist. The bride who was given away by her father wore a gown of ivory embossed chenille velvet cut on classical lines. Her beautifully embroidered evil was arranged with a coronet of orange blossoms and fell to form a

train. She carried a bouquet of orange blossoms and azaleas. Mrs E. Everest, sister of the bride, was matron of honour, and wore a gown of shell pink angel skin lace with pink mittens and hat. She carried a Victorian posy of pink roses and maidenhair fern. Miss Flossie Williamson, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid, her gown being of powder blue matalasse with which she wore blue mittens, a crystal neck lace and a blue coronet. Her posy was also of pink roses and maidenhair fern.

A little page boy, Marcus Young, nephew of the bride, wore a black velvet suit and earned a silver walking stick. The bridegroom was attended by Mr H. E. Chapman as best man.

A reception was later held at the Oaonui Hall, Mrs Young receiving the guests wearing a black and white ensemble of corded georgette. She carried a posy of violets and freezias. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy blue ensemble and carried a posy. A feature of the reception was the wedding cake, which had been made and iced by Mrs C. Ross, of Frankley Eoad, sister of the bride. . Opportunity was taken during the reception of xMnking the health of Mrs Len Young, whose birthday coincided with the wedding.

Later Mr and Mrs Williamson left for the North, the bride wearing an ensemble of nigger brown, with fur stole and hat, shoes and bag to tone. A dance was held in the evening in the Oaonui Hall, music being played by Malcolm's Orchestra. Items were also given by Misses W. and P. Murray, and I. Clieffings. TAUNT—CARRATT A very pretty wedding was solemnised in the Anglican Church, Opunake on Wednesday

July 4th, the contracting parties being Elizabeth Adelaide (Betty) eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs X. A. Garratt, Te Kiri, to Thomas Baskerville, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. W. Taunt, of Vogeltown, New Plymouth. The Rev. A. J. Farnell was the officiating minister, and Mrs Wesley, the organist, the service being fully choral.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautifully cut gown of angel-skin crepe, fashioned on slim fitting lines, flaring from the knees, revealing dainty satin slippers. She wore a necklet of pearls and her amanda and pearl brooch, the gift of her Another. Her finely embroidered veil was held in place by a halfcirclet of orange blossoms, flowing to a soft train, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of roses, orchids, fern and spray of real heather.

The bridesmaid, Miss Edna Garratt, sister of the bride was daintily frocked in pale blue silk hailstone net over hand embroidered blue and pink crepe o»& chine, her pale blue silk net cap being held in place by a circlet of veh-et flowers. Elbow-length pale pink silk gloves, and pink satin shoes were worn, and she carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas, roses, fern and heather, together with a gold brocaded puise, the gift of the bridegroom.

Little Alice Kirkwood made a pretty flower girl, dressed in pink pebble marocain, trimmed with rosettes of pink and green. She also wore a flower hair band and her gift, a gold chain bangle, and carried a hoop of pink flowers.

Mr Alfred Taunt, brother of the bridegroom was best man.

After the ceremony a reception waes held in St. Patrick's Hall, Mrs Garratt receiving her guests in navy and fawn celanese dress, smoked fox fur, hat and shoes to tone. She carried a bouquet oi red berries. Mrs Taunt, mother of the bridegroom, was smartly attired in blue diagonal cloth costume, hat and shoes to tone, and she carried a bouquet of autumn tints.

The only relative, Miss Baskerville, aunt of the bridegroom, was neatly dressed in black ensemble, hat to match. The two-tiered wedding cake was made by the bride's sister, and iced by Mr Loveridge. Many beautiful and useful presents were received, including old English engravings. Mr and Mrs Taunt left for a honeymoon tour, Mrs , Taunt travelling in chocolate brown frock, trimmed with fawn, brown coat with marmot collar, hat and shoes to match. Her beautiful hand-bag was the gift of the bridegroom.
