THE CRICKET BALL

COMMITTEE ACTIVE SUCCESS ASSURED Everything: is going - along splendidly tor the third annual cricket ball which is to be held in the Upunakc Town Hall on Wednesday, January 24. The first occasion on which this function was held year-ago a record crowd attended who were so delighted with the excellence ol arrangements that the club decided to make it an annual affair. Again last year further success followed, a very large number from all parts of Taranaki attending. Although many have held that summer dancing is uncomfortable this theory has been exploded twice this season already, for it is not necessary to wear evening dress and tne committee invite all-comers to put on summer garments, such as flannels and beach frocks. The bright ginghams look just as dainty as one could wish lor so the question of buying a new evening dress for the cricket ball can be forgotten. Malcolm’s Star Orchestra will provide the music—thhovill satisfy everyone who the experience of tripping it to the gay music of tins popular band. Added to this will be the appearance of Mr Stuart Gordon, the talented blind musician who will assist the orchestra throughout the eveu-

mg-. Wo are informed that the lighting and decorations are to be quite novel; something entirely new—so on this point will keep silent, but feel sure the patronswill receive a very pleasant sur])rise on entering the hall. Novelty dances, a perfect floor and supper, should see the cricket club’s efforts crowned with success and the prices of admission having been kept within the readi of all, will clinch this without' any doubt.
