COMMUNITY SINGING

ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT. LARGE CROWD EXPECTED. The committee of the Red Cross Relief have organised another community sing at the Town Hall on Wednesday night, this being at the special request of those present at the initial function last week. Messrs T. P. Hughson and L. Heycock will again lead the fun and an all-round complete change of programme should provide one and all with an excellent night's entertainment. These evenings are rather unique in the social history ui tlie Opunake district, but that which at first was really only an experiment, met with the unanimous support of the public ,so much so that the organisers have made full arrangements for a record gathering at this, their second attempt. Mr. D. Richards will again be pianist while the popular "Black and White" orchestra will also be in attendance. By expending the small sum of threepence, patrons may obtain a hot cup of tea and delicious biscuits to warm them up for their homeward walk. The committee are out to provide entertainment for all, so don't forget to come right along and bring your mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. Even the babies are assured of a hearty welcome. An article in this paper last week showed how much the unemployed arc appreciating the support' and help of the local public, so now is the time to show your appreciation of this noble gesture by doubling your pre-' vious efforts. Just roll up your sleeves, pull up your socks, oil up your voice and turn up at the Town Hall tomorrow night.
