Waikato Market Report.

The latest Waikato market report states : Beef-Competition is everywhere keen and the demand steady. Mutton—The mutton market still remains quiet and che business transacted is of small proportion, • Store cattle—Activity still continues in the store cattle market but there is evidence of an easing tendency. More especially is this applicable to hdifers which have been coming forward in good numbers. Forward stears are in strong demand but backward conditioned cattle have slightly declined. Good framed fresh cows are perhaps in higher favour than any other class in the store section. Store sheep-Business in this branch is somewhat restricted owing to the lack of suitable lines for sale. A good demand exists but for the above reason is not easy to satisfy,

Dairy cattle are in keen demand at all centres. Pitrs—Brisk business has been done in this branch up tothe present. Values are exceedingly firm and inclined to improve The high prices ruling at the yards hava forced the. bacon companies far in advance of their opening quotations and even at present figures some of those operating h ive found it dificult to obtain supplies. At vVaihou jardson Friday v.tines, were fully iod per lb. It is unlikely, however, that these high rates will long continue. Horses-The Hikutaia sale just concluded was most satisfactory from a vendor's standpoint, recent values being fully maintained.
