Local Stock Report.

The Loan and Mercantile held their fortnightly sale at their Opunake yards. A number of outside buyers were present. Store cattle fetched good prices; fat stock was firm; springing heifers also sold well; young stock sold very high. Horses sold well, as also did dairy cows. We quote Stores, £2 16s to £3lss ; fat cows, £6 12s 6d to £6 16s ; poor do., £4 to £5 2s 6d ; springing heifers, £5 5s to £6 10s; backward do., £4 2s fid to £5; weaner steers, £1 14s to £2 10s; dairy cows, £5 6s to £6 10s; one 18 months bull, £3; half-draught gelding, £lB. On Saturdav we held a clearing sale on behalf of Mr J. Miller, of Pihama. A large crowd was present, including a number of outside buyers, and Mr Miller's well-known herd brought good prices. Several good horses changed hands at good money.
