TE KIRI.

[own correspondent.] On Friday evening a gift auction was held in the hall in aid of the Domain Board funds. The gifts included many useful and ornamental articles which all brought a good price and should enable the Board to do some very necessary work on the ground. Mr G. Tindle very kindly came all the way from Opunake and sold the things free of commission, thus helping materially the success of the affair. After the auction was over, the hall was cleared for da.noing which was kept up till an early hour in the morning. A meeting of the school committee was held on Wednesday evening. Present, Messrs Hurst (chair) Dickenson, Woolliams, F. Watson, and Coffin. It was decided to have some levelling done in the school ground during the summer; also that subscription lists in aid of the school prize fund be circulated in the district.

The teacher reported a roll number of 55 with an average attendance of 42. It was decided to .apply to the Education Board for additional desks, and also to have the school and shed painted.
