Progressive Euchre Party.

The second euchre party, in connection with the Opunake Horticultural Society, was given in- the Foresters' Hall on Wednesday evening, and was even more successful than the last one. There were about one hundred persons present, eighty of whom were playing at twenty tables. The play continued until a few minutes after eleven, by which time some very exciting games had been played. The first prize, a lace pin, with pendant (greenstone bean), was won by Miss Cassidy, with 18 games, and the gentleman's prize, a greenstone pendant, set with gold, was won by Mr Walker, with 18 games also. After playing the visitors were requested to keep their seats, and supper was handed round. A tray with provisions for four persons was placed on each table, tea and coffee being also placed thereon. The trays were laden with dainties, and the appetising manner in which they were set out were worthy of the many little compliments passed. Those responsible for the supper were Mesdames Hickman, Harding, Maginness, and Miss Pettigrew, everything being dexterously carried out. The hall was quaintly decorated with curtains, flowers, greenery, etc., reflecting credit on Mrs O'Brien and Mrs Tindle, while the cards and tickets were attended to by Mrs Cassidy. The arrangement of chairs, tables, etc., were attended to by Messrs Warner, Maginness, Stewart, Tindle, Harding, and Armstrong. Everyoue was delighted with the evening's amusement, and are already looking forward to the next one, and a married v, single euchre party is suggested.
