ENGINEER’S REPORT The county engineer, Mr. W. W. Upton, reported as follows at the monthly meeting of the Opotiki County Council held in the count'}' chambers yesterday' morning : Bridge Reserve Road I have examined the bridge on the Reserve road the length of which is 32 feet. I find that although somewhat decayed, especially at the end of one of the stringers that the bridge is not in a, dangerous state for ordinary traffic. The repairs necessary will be put in hand shortly. Tahora Road On, the above road near Leather’s house an old slab culvert collapsed, and has been replaced with a concrete pipe culvert 16 feet long by 24 inches in diameter. 'Ragwort Eradication Five men are at present engaged on clearing ragwort. At present they are on the Waioeka river bed. General. Gravelling repairs have been done on the Omaruniutu, Ohiwa and Reeves roads. Planer and grader have been on the Gabriels Gully, Waiawa., Woodlands, McGregors, Otara and Hospital roads.
