BOBBY CALF POOLS In their monthly advices to their suppliers the New Zealand Co-oper-ative Pig Marketing Association state that for the season ending November 27th. a total of 310,375 calves for a hooks weight of 9,496,313 lbs. hooks weight were handled oh behalf of 71 bobby calf pools, of which 10 were in the South Island. The current season .it is salted showed a fall in the average hooks weight with a corresponding increase in the percentage of calves condemned. Of the gross surplus for distribution, amounting to £184,937, advance payments have already been made amounting to £56,462. Final payments representing the balance, or £128,475, to some 23,000 individual suppliers, are now in the course of preparation, and will reach producers as early l as possible.
The payments to individual pool members on calves above the minimum weight range from an average of 10/Bd. to 15/10d. at. the gate, which on last year’s results represents. a, considerable improvement.
