MEETING OF ASSOCIATION LATE, RALLY ■TO BE HELD Delegates from most parts of the Bay of Plenty attended the annual meeting of the Boy Scouts Association, which took place in Whakatanq recently. The main decision was that the Rally should be held this year as usual in spite of war conditions, but that it should be held later (probably in March) which would give members a better chance to practice for the events and also provide, a more suitable period for boys likely to be affected by, the dairying season. In discussing the balance sheet which showed a credit of £7 12s lid, the Whakatano delegates offered to be responsible with Opotiki for the settling of an account incurred during the Wellington camp when a strong wind damaged some of the tent equipment. Jn his report, Commissioner F. N. Christian stated: “Opotiki has had a change,' Mr. S. H. Williams having taken charge. Mr. D. J. Beattie the chairman, wq welcome to our district. He is not a new recruit to Scouting, having been one of the first Scoutmasters in the Dominion Hi s counsel and help will be sought after; and his presence in the district is most helpful and welcome. n -
