FORTNIGHTLY PIG SALE
The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report as follows on the fortnightly p.g sale held in the saleyards yesterday :
We had a good yarding of pigs and export buyers were all present.
Competition was keen throughout the sale, and the price for bacon pigs was on a par with late rates.
Weaners and slights were slightly easier. Store pigs, were scarce and were firm at late rates. Prices: Heavy prime baconers, £4 to £4 ss; heavy baconers, £3 10sj to £3 18s; light baconers, £3 to £3 Os ; heavy porkers, £2 10s to £2 18s; fight porkers, £2 6s to 1 £2 9s; good store pigs, 38s to £2 4s; slips, 30s to 365; good weaners, 26s to 375; small weaners, 22s 6d to 28s; purebred Devon boar, £3. Owing to Monday the 28th. being Labour Day: the next sale will be held on Thursday, the 24th. October.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report a full yarding of all classes came forward, baconers predominating. Baconers and stores realised fully late rates, with weancr prices slightly easier. Realisations: Baconers, £3 15s to £4 4s; light baconers, £3 6s to £3 15s; porkers, £2 10s to £3; stores, £2 to £2 ids; slips, £l 15s to £l 17s; weaners, £l 5s to £l 15s; smaller sorts, 15s to 225; choppers, to £3 3s.
