MECHANICS INSTITUTE.
Thia Committee met on Monday ', last at 730 p.m! Present, Messrs ■ Ingram, (m the chair;) Parish, Petrie, Prichard,' Byder, Laming, Reeves, and Fisher. The President reportedhaving received an opintdn from. Messrs Harper and Co., Solicitors, as to the : .legality of the. committee removing the books from the library to a more convenient place, the opinion was entirely •favorable to the action of tli3 committee. The Treasurer was instructed to pay the Lawyer's fe«. It was proposed by Mr Laming and seconded by Mr Parish, and carried, " that the President Secretary and the mover be appointed as a sub committee to make arrangements to remove the books at once to a suitable building m the neighborhood of Pearson's Park." The Secretary was directed to write to . the Domain Board and ask them if they were favorable to the Institute • Committee putting up a building m the Pearson Park grounds suitable for a Library and Reading room. The meeting then adjourned. . ..
