Mr C. Bradlaugh has left England on a rour for the benefit of his health,

Orders have been issued by the London Board of Health to the local governing bodies, requesting them to ? eaure a thorough system of drainage in connection with the dwellings of the poor in London. It is intended to accord an enthusiastic welcome to the officers and men of H.M.S. Calliope on their arrival in London. A Company has been formed, with a cai i--181 of £35,000, which intends to work the New Zealand Petroleum and Iron deposits. Mr Gladstone has had a narrow escape from being killed by a railway accident. A bridge collapsed immediately after the train had crossed it. It is proposed to increase the strength of the London police by 1000.
